Andrew J. Huettner is a shareholder at Erickson | Sederstrom. Andrew's practice areas include estate and gift planning, probate and estate administration, trust administration, guardianships, conservatorships, real estate, and tax counsel for individuals and businesses. Andrew also has extensive experience in the formation, operation and succession of corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies.

As an estate planning attorney, Andrew helps his clients structure their estate plans not only to satisfy their personal objectives, but also to transfer their wealth in a tax-efficient manner. Andrew employs a range of approaches from simple estate plans to sophisticated estate and gift tax planning techniques. Andrew understands the importance of succession planning and tailoring an estate plan to fit the specific needs of each individual client.

Andrew maintains extensive experience in handling estates in the event of death. Andrew routinely administers probate estates and trusts. Andrew helps ensure such estates and trusts are administered according to the law, while also carrying out the wishes of the deceased. Andrew also handles controversies arising out of estate and trust matters.

Andrew often advises clients during the incapacity of a friend or loved one. Andrew is an expert in providing clients with a road map and the appropriate counsel during these times. This counsel sometimes involves the appointment of a guardian and/or conservator. Andrew has great experience in guardianship and conservatorship proceedings. Andrew helps his clients satisfy court requirements and navigate the rules surrounding this area of law.

As an estate planning attorney, Andrew is often tasked with the formation of entities and structuring the transfer of entity interests. As a result, Andrew routinely advises business clients on operational issues and choice of entity decisions. Andrew also regularly drafts buy-sell agreements and handles the succession of business interests from one generation to the next.

Prior to joining Erickson | Sederstrom, Andrew worked for a "big four" audit, tax, and advisory firm where Andrew specialized in federal and state income taxation for corporations and pass-through entities. This background helps Andrew assist clients with various tax related issues such as like-kind exchanges, tax free reorganizations, business liquidations, nexus issues, investments in controlled foreign corporations, investments in passive foreign investment companies, and representation before the Internal Revenue Service.

Additional Information

Andrew is currently a member of the Omaha Estate Planning Council. While attending law school, Andrew focused on business transactions, wills and trusts, and federal tax. During Andrew's undergraduate education at Creighton University, Andrew served as president of a social fraternity and vice president of an honor society. Andrew is a current resident of Omaha and enjoys being active in the community.
