Our History
Since its founding in 1967 by Don Erickson (with Charles V. Sederstrom becoming a partner shortly after), Erickson Sederstrom has been deeply rooted in a commitment to quality legal service and a dedication to supporting our clients through meaningful partnerships.
A story from Mr. Sederstrom’s early career demonstrated that dedication to clients. Shortly after he arrived in town, alarms went off in Mr. Sederstrom’s apartment building, and he was forced to escape through a third-story window, suffering multiple fractures and putting him in a back brace for months. Knowing that he would be doing legal work for Immanuel Hospital, even though he hadn’t met anyone there yet, he insisted on being taken to that hospital out of loyalty to his soon-to-be client. After the ambulance drivers refused, he threatened to get in a cab, broken bones and all, to get to Immanuel.
Established in Omaha, Nebraska, our firm began as a small practice focused on providing personalized legal solutions to individuals and businesses. Don Erickson always emphasized the importance of civic involvement, expecting attorneys to be actively involved in the community. Over the years, our team grew as the firm welcomed skilled attorneys with diverse backgrounds and expertise. This expansion allowed us to serve clients across a range of practice areas, including business and corporate law, estate planning, employment law, and civil litigation.
Throughout our history, Erickson Sederstrom has been known for balancing a progressive approach with a strong tradition of client-centered service. A client’s needs come first, Mr. Sederstrom said in a recent interview. “You always have to be responsive to what their needs are. If you say you’re going to call them, you have to follow up on your word.”

Law Clerk Program
Our Law Clerk Program offers law students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, full-service law firm. As a clerk at ES Law, you’ll work closely with attorneys across multiple practice areas, conducting legal research, drafting documents, and assisting with trial preparation.
You’ll have the chance to observe client meetings, court proceedings, and negotiations, while receiving mentorship from some of the most respected legal minds in the Midwest — including attorneys who have argued before the Nebraska Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court. This program is designed to develop your practical skills, deepen your understanding of the law, and prepare you for a successful career after graduation.
